Arata Isozaki awarded 2019 Pritzker Prize

Arata Isozaki has been selected as the 2019 pritzker architecture prize laureate — the award often referred to as architecture’s highest honor. established by the hyatt foundation in 1979, the annual award honors architects whose built work demonstrates a combination talent, vision, and commitment. last year, BV doshi became the prize’s 45th recipient, while 2017 saw rafael aranda, carme pigem, and ramon vilalta of RCR arquitectes honored for their contextual and collaborative practice. the announcement follows the recent passing of two pritzker laureates — irish-born american architect kevin roche, and pioneer of postmodernism, robert venturi.
